The UCSF Center for Genome Surgery is a partnership between the UCSF Broad Stem Cell Center and the Innovative Genomics Institute, established to bring curative genomic therapies to people with well-defined genetic disorders.
At present, our work is to build the clinical and preclinical infrastructure that is essential to implement genomic technologies in our hospitals. Infrastructure that includes:
The CGS Interventional Genomics Case Conference reviews patients with well-defined, monogenetic disorders that may be candidates for novel precision medicine therapies.
- Governance to ensure all critical scientific, clinical, ethical, and safety considerations are reviewed and addressed
- Interdisciplinary case review to identify patients
- Expert clinical teams to provide complex, cross-disciplinary care
- Expert preclinical research teams that develop and validate patient-specific therapies
- Industry partnerships to manufacture patient-grade products
The Center for Genome Surgery will provide an integrated clinical and research pathway that connects clinical diagnosis, scientific discovery, therapeutic development, and clinical implementation.
